A recent experience that inspired you creatively?

I do love a long train journey. I recently jumped on Rovos Rail for an adventure from South Africa to Victoria Falls and there was no WiFi. It allowed me to zone out, reflect and think a lot for the future and really contemplate what matters to most people at the moment: connection, feeling, understanding, time. There is a great depression among many at the moment, and my upcoming editorial is designed around the concept of time and how best to spend it.

What's your favourite quote or saying that you live by?

“There's always a sunrise and always a sunset and it's up to you to choose to be there for it,' said my mother. 'Put yourself in the way of beauty.”

Favourite way to get out of a creative rut?

I am British. We love a walk and I always say any crisis, no matter how grave, can be fixed with a speedy 20-minute stroll. It is amazing just how good it is for you.

Your favourite way to spend a weekend?

In bed. I am always on the move and so I sometimes just like to cocoon myself in my sheets. Me time is very important to me, and when you work in the creative field you need a regular reset to get your juices flowing. If I do manage to get out of bed, I just go for a walk. I have stopped walking with headphones in my ears. Hearing the world, no matter how manic London is, can be a beautiful thing sometimes.

An artist or designer that you admire, and what about their work resonates with you?

Writers are artists. I studied Virginia Woolf, French philosophy and existentialism at university. I love a modernist and an empiricist. Read their work and it expands your mind into new realms of thought constantly. It sometimes drives me a bit nuts, but I have a mind that spins like a tornado. It always needs to be entertained, and this lot taught me how to use (and control) my thoughts best.
